Dr. David Kazdan

Dr. David Kazdan is a Consultant in Sports Medicine at The Sports Medicine Specialists and High Performance Specialists in Brampton, Ontario.

Dr. Kazdan graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School in 1987.  Prior to that, he obtained his Honours Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Microbiology and Anthropology, graduating with Distinction.  Following medical school, he completed an internship at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto.  Early on in his career in Family Practice his interest in Sports Medicine was peaked and he mentored with Dr. Robert Jackson of the Toronto Argonauts from 1989 through 1990.  He worked at the College Park Centre for Sports and Recreational Medicine.  In 1990, Dr. Kazdan established a Family Practice in Brampton.  He became Active Staff at Brampton Memorial Hospital in the Department of Family Practice and the Department of Emergency Medicine.  Since 1990, he has worked on a regular basis in the Emergency Department as well as providing inpatient hospital care.  At the hospital, he served on numerous committees including the Medical Records Review Committee as well as being a member of the Emergency Department Design Team, directing plans over the past 6 years for establishment of the Emergency Department in Brampton’s new facility scheduled to open in 2007.  Since the development of the Medical Observation Short Stay Unit at William Osler Health Centre, Dr. Kazdan has been one of a 6 physician team member providing care through this M.O.S.S. Unit.  Through this unit, he also provides coverage for the paramedic ambulance link to direct on scene resuscitations and treatments.

In 2000, Dr. Kazdan, along with partners Dr. Abraham, Dr. Cheskes, Dr. Clarfield and Dr. Ogilvie-Harris, opened The Sports Medicine Specialists and High Performance Specialists in Brampton, Ontario.  They were able to achieve the designation as the official affiliated Sports Medicine Clinic to the William Osler Health Centre.  Since that time, he has worked as a Consultant in Sports Medicine. Dr. Kazdan obtained his Diploma in Sport Medicine with the Canadian Academy of Sport Medicine in 2002.  He has been a Team Physician along with Dr. Abraham and Dr. Cheskes for the OHL Brampton Battalion Hockey Club since its inaugural season in 1999.  His interests in Sports Medicine continue with active memberships with the Canadian Academy of Sport Medicine, American College of Sports Medicine and the Canadian Association of  Fitness Professionals.

Dr. Kazdan has had numerous television appearances.  These have been primarily on the Life Channel Network as a panelist for the television series Diagnosis M.D.  He has also had interest in mentoring others and has provided elective medical student supervision through the William Osler Health Centre in Brampton in the fields of Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine and Sports Medicine.

Dr. Kazdan continues to practice Family Medicine in Brampton.  He also continues as a Sports Medicine Consultant and maintains his privileges at William Osler Health Centre working in the Emergency Department inpatient care and the M.O.S.S. Unit.  He lives with his wife in The Beaches neighbourhood of Toronto.  The other passion in his life is art photography which he has been active with since his teenage years.  His photography pieces are for sale through a number of framing galleries in The Beaches.
