Sport Medicine Physicians
The Sports Medicine Specialists offer a full complement of Sports Medicine Physicians. All of the Sports Medicine Physicians have specialized training in the field of Sports Medicine. Most of the physicians have completed a fellowship in sports Medicine and have obtained a Diploma in Sports Medicine from the Canadian Academy of Sports Medicine.

Dr. Sheldon Cheskes MD CCFP (EM), FCFP, Emergency Medicine | Brampton
Dr. Sheldon Cheskes is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine, Division of Emergency Medicine at the University Of Toronto having graduated in 1984. He is currently the Medical Director for the Sunnybrook Centre for Pre Hospital Medicine for the Regions of Peel and Halton. He was formerly the Deputy Chief, Emergency Medicine, Peel Memorial Hospital, Brampton Ontario from 1989-2006. He is currently the CO Principal Investigator for the Toronto Site of the Resuscitation Outcomes Consortium and has a research appointment as a collaborating investigator at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute, St. Michaels Hospital, University of Toronto. His research areas of interest are cardiac arrest resuscitation and prehospital systems of STEMI care.
David Kazdan | Physician, Brampton
Dr. David Kazdan is a Consultant in Sports Medicine at The Sports Medicine Specialists and High Performance Specialists in Brampton, Ontario. Dr. Kazdan graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School in 1987. Prior to that, he obtained his Honours Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Microbiology and Anthropology, graduating with Distinction. Gary Abraham | Physician, Brampton
Dr. Abraham graduated from the University of Toronto in 1990 with a Degree in Medicine. Prior to attending medical school, he completed a Degree in Kinesiology at the University of Waterloo. His subspecialties were Exercise Physiology and Sports Medicine. In 1994, he obtained his Diploma in Sports Medicine from the Canadian Academy of Sports Medicine. At present, he is on staff at William Osler Health Centre in Brampton where he practices both Family and Sports Medicine. He is also the Director for The Sports Medicine Specialists, Brampton location.
Dr. Abraham has a special interest in caring for and treating hockey players. For the past 15 seasons he served as Team Physician for the Brampton Battalion, OHL JR A hockey team. He is also the author of the booked called “Kids’ Hockey. The Parent’s Guide”. This book was published in 2000 and sold over 30 000 copies across North America. It is endorsed both by Hockey Canada and the Ontario Minor Hockey Association. Dr. Abraham also serves as a medical consultant to the Ontario Minor Hockey Association, Canada’s largest hockey body. He has extensive experience in diagnosing and treating concussions.
At the clinic he treats all other types of sports injuries and has over 20 years experience in the field of Sports Medicine.
